Advertisers: Ad Creatives
Ad Creatives / Templates
Q: What ad dimensions do you support?
A: Initially we support 645x60px banners. We will add more based on demand. Please
let us know
what you would like to see. We allow publishers to shrink/crop the width of the ad down to 625px if necessary to maintain the border
surrounding their applications.
Q: To what extent can I customize the layout of my ad?
A: We offer a variety of templates, based on your chosen campaign type, that allow you to make a good-looking ad quickly. If you
need more flexibility, we can negotiate giving you more control.
Contact us.
Q: What HTML tags do you support?
A: Some fields within a template support HTML tags. The following are supported:
TABLE, TR, TD, TH, DIV, SPAN, B, I, A, IMG. The style attribute is supported for
most of these. TD tags support the align and valign attributes, A tags support href, and
IMG tags support src.
Q: Where can I see sample ads?
Personalization Macros
Q: What are all the available macros?
A: #SUB1#, #SUB2#, #SUB3#, #SUB4#, #SUB5#, #SUB6# may be defined by you. If you don't use
them all then you must use the lower-numbered ones first (don't use #SUB4# if you don't use
#SUB3#). Be very careful that if you use x number of these macros that you supply x
substitutions when specifying your target audience (otherwise the fields may appear blank
or the assigned recipients will be rejected). App Endorsement campaigns also support
#FIRST_NAME#, #He#, #he#, #him#, #His#, #his#. These only function so long as you set
#SUB1# to be the user id of the intended person. For ads that are explicitly targeted
to an individual (not demographic based), you can use #TIMES_SHOWN# to display
whether the first, second, etc. time shown.
Q: In what fields can I use macros?
A: Macros can be present in any field, including the URL field. You may NOT pass #FIRST_NAME#
to your URL.
Q: How long can personalization macros be? What other constraints exist?
A: You can have up to six. The total length of all six cannot be more than 127 bytes. In reality
these should never be very long because each should only contain a single word or number in most
cases. They must not contain quotes or commas!
Ad Preview / Testing
Q: I sent an ad to myself using the preview screen. How can I view it?
A: Even if your own app(s) display IDH ads, you will not see your ad there because we make
sure you never display your ads to your own site visitors (this would be like charging you
for accomplishing nothing). Instead you should use the link shown immediately after
you hit the submit button on the preview page. If you don't see your ad it might be because
someone else has bid more to show ads to you. Increase the max CPM/CPC bid price and
re-send the ad to yourself. When you are done testing change the bid price back to whatever
you want it to be.
Q: Why am I charged for impressions when testing my ad?
A: You are not charged for using the preview screen, but when you send an ad to yourself it
is actually being dispatched into our ad delivery network in order to make the test as
realistic as possible. The charge for a few impressions should be so small that it does not matter
though (if you are paying a max of $1 CPM then each test impression costs not more than 1/10 of a penny).
Q: When I send an ad to myself, why does it disappear after refreshing?
A: The number of times the ad will be displayed is based on your payment settings. If you are paying
straight CPM and specified the ad to be shown 5 times, then it will be shown to you 5 times in a row
when you test it. If you are paying using eCPC, then your ad will only be shown 1 time, UNLESS the
system has already calculated that it "makes sense" to show people the ad a second time. This only
happens after the ad has accumulated at least 10000 impressions. If
you re-send the ad to yourself the counter will get reset so that no matter what you should see it
at least one more time.
